This report presents the findings of a study on the social values, norms, and harmful practices that hinder gender equality and women’s empowerment in Nepal. Conducted in partnership with UN Women Nepal and the Government of Finland, the research utilised feminist and participatory mass storytelling methodologies. The study, involving over 1,000 women and girls from five districts in four provinces, documented harmful cultural practices such as menstrual isolation (chhaupadi), caste discrimination, child marriage, witchcraft-related superstitions, disability-based discrimination, domestic violence, and the dowry system. The report highlights the impact of these practices and advocates for societal transformation to promote equality and empowerment.
