What Does HerStory Mean to Us?

In our society, many women and girls live lives of quiet invisibility. Their presence is acknowledged, but their voices are ignored. Often considered private, the household is the first political institution in any society and reflects broader societal power dynamics. The distribution of authority within its walls reveals who holds the privilege and whose voices are dismissed. These patterns of inequality ripple outward into communities, public spaces, and institutions, shaping decisions even at the parliamentary level.

HerStory is committed to uncovering and amplifying the stories of those marginalised by history, culture, politics, and societal structures. It’s about creating space for voices excluded from dominant narratives, with a focus on women and girls. Through HerStory, we aim to challenge this erasure and ensure these stories are heard, documented, and celebrated as part of a shared journey toward justice and inclusion.

HerStory exists to break the cycle of selective inequality. At The Story Kitchen (TSK), we democratise knowledge, ensuring it reflects the richness of diverse human experiences and perspectives. By addressing biases in traditional storytelling, HerStory ensures that diverse voices and perspectives are included in the pursuit of justice and equity.
