TSK worked with Save the Children and the South Asian Network to address conceptions of masculinity in Nepal. In the past 20 years many organizations across Nepal have worked with women to discuss women’s rights. Throughout this process, however, those organizations forgot another half of the population: men. The Story Kitchen documented the personal narratives of men and their conceptions of masculinity. By comparing these personal narratives with Nepal’s dominant portrayals of masculinity in the mass-media, TSK explored the many ways men in Nepal are both challenging and internalizing social norms and values around gender.
